Dogs & Devotion
Review by Ginny : Great Gift for Petsitter
The Monks of New Skete really "get" dogs and help the rest of us understand and live well with them. I find most people don't really "get" dogs and don't get the best out of them. Since I have German Shepherds and want them to be well-behaved at home and in public, I want my petsitter to help them be their best, as opposed to ruining all my training. I thought giving this book to my petsitter was a nice, nonthreatening way to introduce the idea. Of course, I got to read it first and enjoyed it a lot.

Review by Phyllis E. Perry : Excellent Book on Dogs and Devotion!
When I first saw the title of this book, I knew it was for me, a HUGE DOG LOVER! And, it was. Written in easy-to-read style, with large photos throughout, it's a darling book for anyone!Highly recommend it!

Review by Daniel R. Strickland "Dan Strickland" : Very insightful
This book is a great study on how dogs help make us more human. I've always known dogs to be great spiritual teachers. I've given the book to several dog loving friends and all have been moved by the monk's wise words. Thanks be to God and dog.

Review by J. Polito : A Book Every Dog Lover Should Have
This is a small book, with wonderful pictures of all kinds of dogs and equally wonderful narratives on various aspects of our relationships with our dogs. The authors are the Monks of New Skete, who are known for breeding German Shepherds and for their books on dogs. This book is not a dog training book or a book just about German shepherds. I got it after losing my beloved old canine friend and it brought me lots of comfort.

Review by Stephen M. Lerch : Devoted Dogs & what they teach us
This book is superbly written. It is very easy to read but the thoughts put across can be pretty profound. The Monks of New Skete touch on a lot of the reasons why people choose to become caregivers for dogs; many of which people never even realize consciously. The book is also rather short, but profound and touching. The text complements the stunning photographs of dogs in various positions and actions. The only complaint I would level at the book is that for the $16.99 MSRP I had hoped for perhaps not all, but some, full color photos. The only full color photos are on the cover. All of the other photos in the book are black and white. If you know a dog lover, do them a favor and surprise them with this book. They will enjoy it almost with a doubt.
