iSkin touch Duo Silicone Skin + Belt Clip for iPod touch (4th gen.), Puma Black
Review by E. Becker "snowghost" : Excellent Design
I bought some cheapo silicon cases for my iPod touch 4G as a stopgap until I found something better. I kept the holster from an older iPod Classic and used that in conjunction with the cheap silicon ones since the padding and protection weren't so good on them.
Now with the iSkin, the silicone is much thicker and has an extremely good fit that covers all the buttons with proper cutouts for the camera lenses. On top of the silicone case itself, the unit has a "visor" (as they call it) which is like a rigid plastic faceplate that overlays on top for added protection and rigidity.
The silicone case is a top-end design as the cutouts and nibs for all the buttons perfectly align. Additionally there is a flap that covers up the dock when you're not plugged in.
There is also a removable belt clip that rotates. I didn't particularly like the design and feel of it insofar as ease of clipping and unclipping from my belt (hence 4 stars instead of 5). However, using the iSkin with my old iPod classic slip holster, the iSkin fits more snugly than the cheaper thinner ones, and I'm more comfortable that if I accidentally dropped the Pod, it would remain
unscathed.
Even without an additional case or holster, the iSkin looks like it would protect pretty well from a dreaded fall. There is no screen protector per se, but the faceplate creates some height away from the screen to the circumference of the whole bezel, so landing on its face the screen wouldn't impact the ground directly.
UPDATE 7/1/11: I unknowingly dropped the iPod when entering a car, closing the door on it. After realizing what happened, upon opening the door it dropped to the street. When I got home and removed the iPod for close examination, there was not one mark on it nor any sort of damage--even to the case!.
Shoe Lubber "Lizz R": Probably the best case you'll get!
A. Shropshire: I get one for each of my computers
J. Brad Yeates "ForeJacks": Excellent
Bailey M. West: One of the best out there!!!
